This beautiful exhibition catalogue showcases 90 photographs taken by one of Australia’s most renowned photographers, Max Dupain, while on government and commercial assignments. Striking images of Australian rural and urban scenes, architecture, industry and people’s lives spanning the 1940s to the 1970s are featured, along with several photographs taken for his longest standing corporate client, CSR Limited. Many of the photographs were used by the federal government to promote Australia overseas to potential migrants, tourists and trade partners. An essay about Max Dupain’s commissioned work by curator Johanna Parker is featured, together with an article about his long-time studio assistant, Jill White, offering insights about his work style.
